Michael Starchuk for Richmond School Trustee - RITE RichmondMichael Starchuk has lived in Richmond all of his life. His Great Grandmother was born in Richmond in 1901, she helped to instil in him a great passion for the city in which we live. Being the eldest of 5 boys he learned at a young the art of listening, understanding and compromise.

Why You Should Elect Michael Starchuk As A Richmond School Trustee

Michael attended school in Richmond, learning and was positively influenced by many teachers, school staff and fellow pupils. He currently is the Senior Program Manager at Tomorrow’s Topkids Child Care Society, an out of school care program in Richmond. While working there Michael has built relationships with hundreds of children and families. He wants to see children and youth grow up to exceed their own potential.

Dedication To Teaching Youth The Game Of Hockey

A sports enthusiast and hockey fanatic, Michael has been a minor hockey referee since he was 13 years old and now referees an adult hockey league ran out of the Richmond Ice Centre. He still actively plays the game and over the past 10 years through the Seafair and Richmond Minor Hockey Associations has found a love in teaching the game to children and youth.

Becoming a father in September 2011 was the greatest moment in his life and over the past 3 years has become incredibly appreciative of the challenges that becoming a parent brings. Michael’s desire to be a positive voice as a Richmond School Trustee has only become stronger as his son has grown and will soon be joining the public school system.

Michael’s Vision As A Richmond School Trustee candidate

Michael believes that schools are the lifeblood of the community and strong schools build stronger communities. Going to school isn’t just about getting an education, but is also about learning social skills, respect and responsibility. He believes that it is a child’s right to learn all of these skills plus many more and that it is the community’s responsibility to exhaust every avenue to deliver a quality well-rounded education to everyone within the Richmond School District. That’s the vision Michael will bring to the Board of Education if you elect him as a Richmond School Trustee candidate on November 15.
